Yeah, good food costs a few pennies more but it's still better than over processed dog **** which had been chucked in the deep frier which is what they got before. "But at least they had a GIGANTIC SUPER SIZED portion of fried dog ****" says DD. The fat little bastards aren't going hungry even if they're whining that nothing is deep fried and candy is no longer the main course.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

IANAP, but I disagree. Feeding kids 'healthy' food they don't like is much of the problem. Healthy food doesn't have to taste bad. Feeding kids food they like AND is healthyOriginally posted by Guynemer View PostI could not possibly care less if the kids don't like the options they have for lunch at school, so long as the options themselves are healthy.

If the kids would rather go hungry than eat something they don't like, well, that sounds like a pretty good life lesson to me.

Obviously, there are going to be problems with the policy, as there is with every policy every in the history of human governance.
should be the single goal of the school lunch program. There's no need to disregard their tastes - otherwise you're heading into OzzyKP's anger zone, and IMO for a reasonable reason.<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.

Children are not and cannot be taught by government or for that matter schools alone. Parents, however, have successfully taught habits to children for... Well, for a considerable period of time.Last edited by Zevico; September 28, 2012, 04:42."You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. Nor a reason for the federal government to intervene in a matter that can be a matter for decision by parents. For starters, parents choose whether to pack lunches for their kids or give them money for school. Next, they ought to have a direct say at a local level about their school. Nothing necessarily wrong with healthy menus provided they're actually eaten, everything wrong with having federally elected officials responsible for national security spending their time playing at being nutritionists.Originally posted by dannubis View Post... which is not an excuse for the schools to only serve processed crap."You say that it is your custom to burn widows. You're right in that serving nice healthy food should be the goal, but the issue is that kids brought up on artificially salted and sweetened processed foods really struggle with fresh food. They can be weaned onto it, but there is an element there of basically forcing them onto it while they acclimatize.Originally posted by snoopy369 View PostIANAP, but I disagree. If parents could be trusted to make decisions that were always best for their children the world would be a very different place. Unfortunately a huge number of parents are stupid, lazy and generally **** at parenting. Why exactly should their children have their lives totally ruined because their mum and dad are pathetic parents?Originally posted by Zevico View PostNor a reason for the federal government to intervene in a matter that can be a matter for decision by parents. National security? You think the National Security Advisor or Secretary of Defence spend part of their time on school lunches? You do understand the principle of government having lots of different branches and staff right?Originally posted by Zevico View PostNothing necessarily wrong with healthy menus provided they're actually eaten, everything wrong with having federally elected officials responsible for national security spending their time playing at being nutritionists.

Federally elected officials are congressmen, senators, the president. They have better things to do, is my point."You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well.
