I'm always astonished that the Fuses still seem to be capable of working after all these years. One would assume that, at least chemical fuses, would've lost the ability to react by now? Oh Tooth of Time have you forsaken us?

The fuses and the explosives become unstable over time and even more dangerous. It looks like a controlled detonation gone wrong but sometimes these bombs just go off by themselves, especially when disturbed. Even a change of temperature when uncovered can be enough to set them off.

Some advice to the kiddies viewing, never approach, move or touch unexploded military munitions no matter how old or rusted.

The "Kid playing with WW2 Grenades/Bomb" was not an uncommon TV Theme when I was younger actually. Haven't seen it used in quite a while though.

As kids we even got warnings from our teachers (strangely, not from our parents): if it looks like a bomb and goes boom, stay away from it.
