  • Does lady gaga have...

an algorithm that generates massively popular songs?

I disbelieve any human's ability to put out that many hits in succession.

If only Tupac had had such an algorithm he wouldn't have had to have himself killed off in order to cover up the fact he was running out of material.

I've managed to avoid hearing any of her songs AFAIK; all I know about her is that she specializes in goofy clothes and the sort of bland enlightened modern sensitive person platitudes my fellow Millennials slurp up with a 2" straw.

I only assume that her songs are ****ty because everyone likes them.

She only just now come up with her 2nd CD. She excels at marketing freakishness.

I don't know if this helps but her songs always remind people or other's artists hit singles, almost in a ripoffish way. That has got to help her.
Marry the night is the only single of her last album I liked, especially the dance coda. I also liked Judas except the lyrics.

Elok, she is like Madonna, but a real musician (can sing quite well, plays the piano, writes her songs) Madonna could/can do none of those 3 things.

She wrote songs for Britney Spears and some others before she got a deal herself too IIRC.

There is a standard algorithm for writing a successful pop song, yes. Although it evolves slightly. eg. duration has increased slowly over time, but tempo has remained constant.

You can extrapolate rules for song duration, sequence pattern, chord progression, standard hooks etc. and the top pop hitmakers follow those rules closely.

The KLF wrote a manual detailing the exact steps (though it's 25 years old now):

THE TIMELORDS T H E M A N U A L (HOW TO HAVE A NUMBER ONE THE EASY WAY) THE JUSTIFIED ANCIENTS OF MU MU REVEAL THEIR ZENARCHISTIC METHOD USED IN MAKING THE UNTHINKABLE HAPPEN. KLF 009B 1988 (YOU KNOW WHAT'S GONE) TEXT BY: LORD ROCK AND TIME BOY A.K.A. THE TIMELORDS A.K.A. ROCKMAN ROCK AN

Which takes you through step by step on things like how you identify what the beats/grooves people will want in 3 months time, how to copy a successful chorus for your song etc.

Well, people surely don´t buy her albums because of the music, but rather to see her in Latex outfits

Sounds kind of like Frank Ocean's career path - hopefully he can hit those heights of popularity.
