Canada's rules clearly state Alberta's energy resources are Alberta's.

It was the Liberal governments that did not play by the rules.

I accept your apology. You need to learn to be more grateful.

That is true but the Newfs are informally included.

Nfld has now broken the cycle of dependency that became the norm east of Ontario.

I'm glad you have agreed with my views on equalization and the evil of Stephen Harper.

          I, too, accept your apology.

          • I'm not opposed to equalization, so long as it is within reason. I believe the current formula and allocation to be reasonable.

What BC is doing now, and what Trudeau tried to do in the 80s, crosses the line.

            • So how come the entire province of Nova Scotia is basically welfare land? It's like they have nothing there but fish and christmas trees.

                • I think Sidney Crosby is their current chief export.

                  • Is this another case of environmentalists ****ing over millions of people, or is it an issue of saving the precious fishing industry from minor damage by something way more profitable?

                    • Nova Scotia used to be a major exporter of coal & gypsum - coal is almost gone. Major exporter of fish & seafood - cod is almost gone, but rebounding. And NS had/has major shipbuilding and repair. A recent federal contract to refurbish current Naval vessels and build high arctic ships will help a bit.

But Asher is right, if you included Sidney Crosby's contracts, the GDP would double.

I recognize our current Alberta based PM wants to destroy Canada, or at least emasculate Ottawa, and that it will take decades to undo the damage he's doing.
Too late. Quebec will be independent within 10 years.

Everything indicates that Harper wants to accelerate the process.

                            • They have a shot at winning the provincial election. The Liberals are old, corrupt and tired.

                              • Even if PQ manages to take over the province, do you think it even has a chance of winning an independence referendum? Notwithstanding whether the feds will recognize it, or for that matter all of the legal issues with respect to property and indians (or whatever you canucks call 'em, first nations?).
