One of my most memorable 4th of July's was when I was 16 and we all went down to Tijuana to get drunk and then ate Kentucky Fried Buches (battered and fried chicken necks). Officially the legal drinking age in Mexico is 18 but as long as you have dollars and can see over the bar they aren't strict at all. In May I turned 16, got my license, had my first car so all my friends were eager to go down south. We got rip raring drunk for the first time in our lives, went into strip clubs, lost all of our money to strippers because we were too stupid to know where the red light district was or that the stripe joints were a rip off, but ended up getting a hand job in some dark back room in a strip joint and all we had left was enough to pay for a taxi back to the border and some really cheap food.

Kentucky Fried Buches fit the dirt cheap bill, I think all four of us ate for $6, but it was greasy goodness at 4am.
