  • Why are Texans so insecure and/or violent?

Conversation with somebody from a normal state:
You: Your state kind of sucks.
Resident of a normal state: Yeah, it kind of does. [Or, if they have a great deal of state pride, they might say "Meh, whatever."]

    Conversation with a Texan:
You: Your state kind of sucks.
Texan: I am going to assault and/or murder you for denigrating my state. [They wouldn't actually say "denigrate" since it's not in their vocabulary, but you get the idea.]

    What's up with that?

replace Texas and US and we get a lot of that around here.
If someone says Illinois, I chuckle, agree, and keep listing the states I intend to leave Illinois for when I retire.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

Don't you like having half of your congressmen go to prison, though?

Someone has to keep our ex-governors company.

The thing that's funny is that while Illinois does have problems such as atrocious variant weather, retirement states only have weather as an enticement. Florida and Arizona for example are really bad places to live. You have to drive everywhere, you have bad infrastructure, you have to put up with other old people, nothing good ever happens in those states (especially Florida), strip malls comprise the majority of commercial space which brings in subpar food and cultural experience. Florida at least has Miami which does have culture and good food but I highly doubt people retire to Miami in lieu of Boca Raton.

I don't know if I'm cut out for retirement as defined by the typical midwesterner.

The main problem with Illinois is the corruption. The Politicians stuff their pockets why the state is in a death spiral. Hopefully I will get out of Dodge before the state goes bankrupt. The worst thing is that the people responsible keep getting re-elected.

Yes the weather sucks and will the long cold winters will be the next best reason to leave. It never bothered me when I was younger but as I get older the cold becomes more of a burden.

I like ripping their lips off. Makes it so much funnier watching them try to talk their trash.

To be fair, that response is still mostly from Texans. If aliens arrived and said, "Earth sux!" Texans would sent them packages of salt.

You know, because aliens are slimey and salt would likely have deleterious effect on them.

I agree with a lot of this and my ex-girlfriend kept talking about moving to Phoenix "because it's so cheap there". Yeah, there is a reason it's cheap and it's not because it is so damn nice with world class amenities. Don't get me wrong, I liked going there for the weekend but I could never live there or any where else where the temperatures routinely exceed 110 degrees F and sometimes go as high as 120 degrees F. Life is too short to live some where that crappy even if you can get a giant home at half the price.

This is of course why we need to keep Texas around ... just in case ...

It is one of the great mysteries of life. It's likely because everyone in the state has a reaaaaaly small penis (yes, even the women).
