You'll find there's a slight East-West distinct, and in the place with the most dangerous compound of nationalism and everyday racism, it comes very subtly. There is now a campaign aimed at German football aficionados to grow their beards as long as the team stays in the Euro tournament. The advertising video has a number of German dudes 'recognize' each other from beardness in public places. That is a very extreme view you have there. I see no signs of disintegration. Probably some countries will be kicked out of the EURO zone but politically the EC doesn't seem to change all that much.
