  • If Charles dies prematurely, does the throne pass to William or to Andrew?

Say the Prince of Wales, who himself is knocking on a bit already, passes away with his mother the queen still alive. Who succeeds him on the first spot in the line of succession? Is William's claim bound to his living father or is that part of the line of succession fixed as of 1982?

PS: before you say anything, this is CLEARLY the best place to ask. Also, do you think Harry hit Pippa?

William. The line of succession is set when people are born. Apart from his own death, nothing can remove William from being 2nd in line to the throne after Charles.

Although they are actually changing the rules so women gain their proper place in the succession, but I'm not sure if that will effect the current line. If it does then Anne would move up to fourth I think, but nothing can displace William at this point him being the eldest son of the eldest child.

    PS. Yes probably.

Old, old succession law where the titles/land are split between the children rather than all going to the senior.

Interesting, I just did a bit of googling and apparently despite it disappearing in England after the Conquerer, it remained in Kent until 1925.

Fact: It is impossible for Charles to die prematurely.

I don't see how Gavelkind is even relevant here. The question was if the line jumps to the second son of the current monarch. I'm not sure what such succession would be called or if it ever even existed (as was said, the birth of William meant his uncle was not next in line) but it sure as hell isn't Gavelkind, where land was divided equally between sons.

So I'm not sure why Oerdin even brought it up unless he wants to pull a Molly Bloom and act cool because he name-dropped something obscure but with completely no relevance.

Do you even play computer games anymore? It was an obvious CK2 reference.

I know but it wasn't relevant. He answered it like 'no. that's gavelkind and they don't do that anymore'. Like no, Always-Wrong, it's not gavelkind.

It's like asking do NFL teams still kick from the 30?

No. They don't have sudden-death OT in the playoffs anymore.

                              Like what the ****?
