Modern astrophysics revealed origin of chemical elements so we're star stuff, dude, and the most common elements in our body (hydrogen, oxygen, carbon, nitrogen) happen to be among the most common in the universe, dude we're part of the universe, hey these ingredients are common maybe aliens exist, the universe is really ****ing big so it's pretty likely, Mars used to be wet but something bad happened, Venus too, let's give NASA more money, maybe we came from bacteria on asteroids from Mars, now the fascinatingly disturbing things is chimps have almost the same DNA as us but they're ****ing stupid, maybe we're actually ****ing stupid too and don't realize it, maybe they aliens are way smarter and don't feel like talking to us because we're blithering idiots.

        Thank you Neil deGrasse Tyson.

So isn't that basically what Carl Sagan said? I never really thought Carl Sagan was super-insightful, but zero points for copying his schtick. This Tyson guy

I don't think Carl Sagan ever proposed the theory that extraterrestrials haven't contacted us because they think we're too stupid to be worth contacting.

I haven't watched this video, but Neil deGrasse-Tyson is an excellent science communicator.
