I'm about 1/3 of the way through. Does the main character ever get some measure of justice, or is the entire book just a parade of embarrassments? If the latter, I just can't keep reading; I'd kill myself.

I haven't read that one, I think one of the few by that author I haven't read.
I wasn't as blown away with American Gods though, so wasn't excited and haven't purchased it yet.
I would read it if it was in my room though.

I re-read American Gods just the other month or so and thought - again - that about the first part of the book is very good but that it loses some of its charm during the second half. IIRC Anansi boys is more even in that regard. And no, the embarrassments are fewer after the first third - or perhaps you get used to it...
