That's not suicide then, it's just having a friend agree to execute you. Clearly you have to lethally injure yourself before you let your friend put you out of your misery.

meh, the Arabs took that over. The Japanese should sue for copyright infringement.

As for the forest, it makes big news because of the sheer numbers of suicides, but the U.S. has their places too. Namely the Golden Gate Bridge. Although they are trying to get funding to put up a net underneath it. My area just had its first suicide off the new Hoover Dam bypass bridge last week. Hopefully that doesn't start a trend. The thing is media reporting on this only makes the problem worse.

If you put a net there they might just decide to do it somewhere else. Maybe having them jump off a bridge is better than having them blow their brains out with a shotgun. At least there's no mess to clean up.

A net was installed at a popular suicide bridge in Toronto. It didn't decrease the number of suicides (other locations/methods were sought) but it did decrease the number of bodies landing on cars traveling the expressway below.

Does life insurance cover suicide? It could be an act of charity.

I don't think it's uncaring and selfish. If people are going to off themselves (and apparently they will despite putting obstacles in the way) then it's best they not do it by jumping onto a highway. Cars have a tendency to crash when a body lands in front or on them.
