Assault is a form of coercion. It creates a chilling effect, forcing people to obey you on threat of violence. Violence doesn't actually have to occur for you to have harmed someone. A parent tries to teach lessons, that hopefully include how to deal with ANY bullying. To expect a parent to be there 24/7 and know all things as they happen is asking for a little much.
