But isn't that the problem with your constitution ? It isn't a de facto legislation but one that are open for interpretation ? You are currently applying laws that most other countries would consider illegal simply because their constitution forbids it.

Lori, you've got to understand the European mindset on constitutions, basic laws, and individual rights. In many European countries, the constitution says what the government MUST do, so for instance it's conceivable for dumping toxic waste to be unconstitutional because of everyone's right to a clean environment.

No no no. It's not that your prediction is unlikely or anything. It just makes no sense. It makes absolutely no sense for laws to declare an activity unconstitutional. That's simply not the way our system works. There are other ways to degrade our rights, but that's not one of them, because it literally makes no sense.

What laws are you talking about?

What is inaccurate about this? The communist witchhunts were a perfect example, and the more recent warrentless wiretapping, extraordinary rendition, state sponsored torture and of course the NDAA allowing the detaining of US citizens without charge.

This doesnt mean that other countries don't also have ****ty political systems, but trying to claim the US hasn't acted in a rather totalitarian way on numerous occasions is laughable.

Sure, we do have a monarchy. Though, it's more like the german presidency. It doesn't really matter a bit but is more a question about head of state.

Now you might not care what an American thinks of your retarded system of government, but I'm just reporting on the facts as an American sees them (which is of course the only correct way to see them)
That is not true - I'm quite curious about what other people think about our way of organising government. I know that it isn't perfect, but likewise I also know that the alternatives such as the "american way" neither are.

Ouch. I gladly admit that I have been trolling in the past and will do such in the future, but I actually didn't had that in mind here. It seems like I have been like a dentist drilling in a sore tooth without sedation .

Though, I really don't care much if you USanians doesn't like what I write - I write about how it looks from here (i.e. outside US) and it isn't my problem if you don't like it.
