I had a friend in high school who got 1600, and a 35 on his ACT. Smartest guy I ever knew, multitalented, appeared in lots of plays at Michigan, very kind.

He committed suicide in his mid-20s.

800M 800V 780W. Probably helped a lot on getting me into school.

If you went through an SAT guide as an adult with work ethic, instead of a kid, you'd get 800s across the board. By their own rules, they're only allowed to ask a handful of types of questions, all of which can be solved algorithmically (yes, even the verbal ones.)

The writing is a little bit of a crapshoot but as people get older they seem to get better at writing, not worse.

Sure, the essay is a bit of a crapshoot - it was where my writing score got dinged - but the rest of the writing section is actually the most predictable. The majority of the questions are about parallel structures, subject-verb agreement, or noun-pronoun agreement. On occasion there will be questions about idiomatic preposition usage - "depends on," "consists of," "enamored of," that sort of thing. There are also maybe a couple of other categories I haven't thought of right now.

I ran an SAT prep business in 2009, which is why I know this sort of thing off the top of my head.

2230 was way more than enough to get me into RIT so I didn't really care beyond that.

I scored 1540 (800 math) - I remember because my brother scored 1520 (800 verbal), so I was able to annoy him with this fact for a day or two

I got a 2250, didn't study, took the test once. One of the easiest tests I took in all of high school. They didn't test me on anything I didn't already know by 8th grade.

2260 (790M/740V/730W). Didn't really do any prep except a practice test or two (and the experience of having taken it in 7th grade as well, sans the writing part of course). It was good enough to get me in to where I wanted to be, so I didn't bother to retake -- there was no way I was going to waste another five hours of drudgery just to improve slightly.

                            1360 (730 verbal, 630 math). I think I added that up correctly

1590, didn't even take the test. Too easy. Knew it all by kindergarten.
