Earlier today, I became a new US Cellular customer, and I decided to purchase a Huawei Ascend II smartphone for one penny.

The Android apps I've downloaded already:

I have a list of many others that I want to download, but this is enough to start with.

What are your favorite apps on your smartphone?

Okay, I went to read user reviews about Handcent. Some have complained that the app will send duplicate notifications of the same text message that you receive.

If you want a Bible app, I find YouVersion is the best.

Get yourself the Angry Bird games, whatever app your bank uses (if its national), & Weather Channel's app. I really like the GMail app over my phone's (HTC Thunderbolt) dedicated mail software. I also like Amazon's app.

For saving money (since you indicated being under employed), Scoutmob is a must.

Run GPS can do that if you have a Bluetooth heartrate monitor that supports this (like the Zephyr HxM I mentioned).
It gives you number of steps, step frequency and can even give you a good estimation of your speed based upon the ste frequency (this even works fairly well, if you train on a treadmill instead of really runnign around somewhere)

It will, however, only work together with a heartrate monitor that has such a sensor ... I don´t know about any app that is able to record your pace with the sensors of the smartphone alone (i.e. without any external sensors needed)

I downloaded Angry Birds earlier today - can't believe an addictive game like that, is free.
