      Victory is ours!

Everything went well, thanks to all omnipotent forces.

At the end of the day, our first born was there and she was very happy to see her new little brother, so we let her keep him in her arms for a while. She's only 18 months old so we had to be careful but she did great. Obvious Kodak moments, people cried, except me 'cause I'm a badass (I only cried inside).

So now it'll be about a month's worth of healing, me going to work and trying to take care of everything else at the same time as well. But it'll be OK, it's only for a month and then I look back at this thread and shake my head how I said it's only for a month and that's easy.

Thanks for all your kind words, we're now a family of 4 and I'm sort of mixed with emotions. I'm glad we had a new baby, but it often takes some time for dads to adjust. Plus I'm sort of feeling sad for our daughter because at some point she might feel like she is not the single point of importance in the universum. Because to me she was. Of course she still is, it's just that there are now two points.

ALSO! I got to be there, for the operation, right in the mix! It was awesome and now I think I use the word awesome correctly. Knives, technology, beeping sounds, real time data visualized, sensors, my SO, new life and First Contact, people wearing green, blood and guts, strong drugs... I mean I was up in there with my camera and it was better than all the documentaries put together! The only thing missing was my drugs. Strongly recommended!!! I was lucky though, it's only some doctors in here that might let you be there all the way like that.

With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

Thats nice. The doctor made a good choice because it would be painful for the mother to deliver a baby with broad shoulders not to mentions the other complications. Best of luck. Hopefully your house will be filled with noisy happiness.

Interestingly enough, instead of feeling glorious, I feel a bit sad. Sad for my daughter. Sad that she might feel jealous or bad in the near future, confused. It really actually bothers me a lot mentally and emotionally.

I guess there's just a special place for her, being my first. Also at 18 months old, I've gotten to know her a bit by now. We have established some short sentences, we can communicate a lot. That provides an extra dimension for us dads especially.

She knows something special is going on, she isn't expecting mom to come home at nights but she's in the hospital and we go there every day. She feels a bit of abandonment at the moment due to being with me all the time now. For those reasons, I feel a bit sad as well.

It's good for them too in the long run, even if it is difficult for them to adjust. We all need company to grow up well and balanced.

Pekka got a new squealing kid... I got a 10 lb roast ham. Yeah, who came out ahead on that bargain? Throw on some gravy, mixed veggies, and mashed potatoes and I think I'm well ahead in this bargain.
