    Allow me some hyperbole.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

It's not nearly as bad as not knowing Led Zep.

I don't think it's bad at all, actually. I fail to know a lot of lesser groups from the 50's and am unfamiliar with a lot of the stuff from the 60's.

          That's a very good point.

And I remember culturally sensative shows like "F Troop" and later "Hogan's Heroes".

My first TV memory would be Apollo 11.

Davy Jones made another David Jones change his name in David Bowie. I hope you know that one...
Within weeks they'll be re-opening the shipyards

How about "Amos and Andy", "Calvin and the Colonel" or "Heckle and Jeckle"?

I don't remember Calvin and the Colonel. I have some Amos and Andy, as well as Heckle and Jeckle.

My maternal grandparents were big minstrel show fans.

My 1st tv memory was of my older sister screaming and running from the room when it was announced that JFK was shot. I was 3 and had no understanding of what had happened, but knew it was very bad.

The JFK assassination? i was in Catholic school. A PA announcement was made by a weeping nun, and we were sent home.

Reminds me of what happened to me on 9/11, a generation or two later.

I didn't get sent home early on 9/11. And I didn't find out about it until I got home.
