  • Best Professional Detective + Amateur Investigator Duo

Time to vote. For the Best Duo of ALL TIME.

    The Candidates:

    Remington Steele

Remington Steele's premise is that Laura Holt, a licensed private detective played by Stephanie Zimbalist, opened a detective agency under her own name but found that potential clients refused to hire a woman, however qualified. To solve the problem, Laura invents a fictitious male superior whom she names Remington Steele. Through a series of events that unfold in the first episode, "License to Steele", Pierce Brosnan's character, a former thief and con man whose real name (or whether he even has one) is never revealed, assumes the identity of Remington Steele.

    Moonlighting

The show's storyline begins with the reversal of fortune of Maddie Hayes (Cybil Shepherd), a former model who finds herself bankrupt after her accountant embezzles all of her liquid assets. She is left saddled with several failing businesses formerly maintained as tax write-offs, one of which is the City of Angels Detective Agency, helmed by the carefree David Addison (Bruce Willis).

    Castle
Castle follows Nathan Fillion as Richard Castle, a famous mystery novelist who has killed off his main character in his book series and has writer's block. He is brought in by the NYPD for questioning regarding a copy-cat murder based on one of his novels. He is intrigued by this new window into crime and murder, and uses his connections to charm his way into shadowing the captivating Detective Kate Beckett, played by Stana Katic

    Series excluded:
Murder she Wrote ( No permanent Partner),
Scarecrow and Mrs. King ( No Detective),
Bones (More Forensic Show than Whodunnit),
    Hart to Hart (Both Amateurs)

Do Holmes and Watson not qualify for some reason, or are you yanking our chains?

Do William Powell and Myrna Loy in the Thin Man movies count?

I guess Wheels and the Legman don't count since they're both amateurs.

I came up with that, too, but I think they were both "amateur".
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

Nick Charles was a former pro, who reluctantly lent his services out. So I think you're right.

Those were all Professional Detectives/Police(wo)men/Agents, Not an Amateur/Pro Duo.
Just like The Persuaders were an Amateur/Amateur Team.

Never heard of the Detectives Any good?

The Miniseries has been disappointing in the Second Series The Hounds and Reichenbach Episodes were just weird. The Yankee Holmes is better

                        Spoiler:

So in Conclusion: Yes I forgot about them, oh The Shame, the Humiliation, you bested me good Sire.

Is castle actually a good show or do people just watch it for Nathan Fillion because they wish Firefly was still airing?
If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?
