  • Evangelical Protestants and the GOP

We got a Mormon and two Catholics and they're all vying for the 'God vote' to appeal to Protestants. What the hell is going on?

They'll overlook that as long as the candidates promise to shove Christianity down people's throats. But how do non-Christians vote Republican?

It's like you think the Republicans have really done much for, say, the anti-abortion crowd rather than mostly give them lip service while they lower taxes on rich folk.

I found a higher truth than mammon.

(and lets not mythologize it so much - I was a less obnoxious HC when I was 20)

What a dork. You have no clue about history, the present or the future. What good are you? What do you do all day and night? You thought you were going to OCS?

Which just goes to show how utter stupid the anti-abortion crowd really is. They keep giving the same guys their full support and then wondering how they end up with the exact same results. On the other hand Republicans do throw the Luddites the odd bone; Virginia wants to pass a new law requiring women who want an abortion to have to under go a full vaginal probe even though it has no medical value and doctors are against it. Remember when Republicans were saying they didn't want "government bureaucrats coming between you and your doctor"? Yeah, I guess that was just another lie from them.

To paraphrase the GOP the dirty sluts deserve it!

If becoming less "obnoxious" as you say involves religious conversion, count me out.

                        Are you?

(If yes you might want to try harder)

You know what pisses me off? For over one hundred years this crowd self-identified themselves as "fundamentalists". Then 9/11 happens and some pundits label the perps as Islamic fundamentalists, so the Christian fundies decide they no longer want to be called fundamentalists. They re-brand themselves as evangelicals. Before they did this there were some evangelical groups that were actually rather left-wing, now its all confused. I demand that Fox begin referring to al-Qaeda as Islamic evangelicals so these twits will revert to their proper name.

One problem though: what will we call televangelists? "*******s" would be the appropriate term but I don't think they'd accept it.
