  • I'm leaving forever

    Handed my notice in yesterday.

Now have to wait three months before I can start at my new place.

I'm still working there for three months, and I handed my notice in in a convivial professional manner. Unless you think resigning consititutes burning bridges.

Why wait three months unless you have some sort of noncompete clause in your contract?

So his bridge doesn't burn, Dinner.

At my grade, three months is the notice period.

The US is much different. My wife handed her notice in the AM and left that evening after packing up her things.

I've previously handed notice in, walked out the door and never come back. But that was long ago.....

It was the same with me and my last-but-one employer. I was pissed off with them but it wasn't an acrimonious split. You and I have had splits which were otherwise and a case of telling them to take their job and shove it.

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891
