Have a look through Music Thread for some suggestions from yours truly. I've been digging through my old vinyl collection so there's a fair amount of vintage soul, rhythm and blues and funk and some psychedelia and folk too.

Some old and new electronica as well, and some African artists (mainly from North & West Africa ) too.

See this is why I'm confused. You say you're curious about 70's funk but you don't like the Ramsey Lewis track. I know that song isn't an entire genre obviously but I'm a little puzzled since that is 70's funk yet you feel it's diametrically opposed to what you like.

Seriously? I made exactly one two sentence off hand joke months ago and you're still butt hurt about that? Have a tampax, *****.

I'll give you drunk people don't make cogent points though.

Oh, you were a racist dick MONTHS ago (aside from sundry other racisms), that explains everything! Bugger off, Din-Din.

I'm not really well-versed in the history of music (or basically anything related to music), but when I think funk I think stuff like what Bugs posted, along with Car Wash, Jungle Boogie, etc. Summer Breeze doesn't sound like it's even in the same genre. Really, though, it's just that our tastes differ. Outside of rap you generally seem to like things smooth and mellow, while I normally prefer...uh, almost the exact opposite. Fast and riotous?

It's actually causing a problem that's recently come to light; I have a hard time singing the baby to sleep since almost every song I like is of the crashing-drums and wailing-guitar variety. Luckily the kid will sleep when exposed to almost any music, however inappropriate. I just can't bounce him along with the rhythm.

I was reading an article on 'Moon River' in a recent magazine and author used it as a lullaby...

Damn straight. Here, have some awesome noise. They don't contain any highly cerebral excerpts from somebody's community college philosophy of religion essay, but you'll notice there's an actual TUNE in all three!

You fool, I like the Killers and posted about them before. The middle one you posted isn't even rock music and the Raconteurs sounds annoying as **** with their high-pitched squealing.

I don't read all your posts, dude (unless you're saying you said something about the Killers in this thread). And I never said the SNZ were rock.

i second cort's suggestion, maximo park are great (first album in particular). given what you have posted so far, here is a random selection you might like. the bluetones, the auters, the violet may, the wave pictures, the chameleons, theatre of hate, fu manchu, blueboy, dag for dag, the horrors, the raveonettes and thee faction (socialist rhythm and blues!).

btw if you are looking for some modern blues, check out cj stoneking.
