They're a publishing business so the only way to make money is to keep publishing. Switching editions is a good way to boost sales as it means all the players have to go out and buy all of the basic books (Player's Guide, DM's Guide, Monster Manual, etc...) all over again.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

There should be some law against preying on the weak-minded. My gaming group has ~3 of everything from AD&D on.Click here if you're having trouble sleeping.

I haven't played since about 1993-1994 but I did read some news articles when 3rd edition and 4th edition came out. It sounded like both of them were lame munchkin's paradise games and I'd expect 5th edition to be even worse.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

You ever use AD&D's Player's Option books? AD&D was plenty munchkiny.Click here if you're having trouble sleeping.

Wow, 4th edition came out in 2008? So it only lasted three years? I had heard a lot of people didn't like 4th edition because it was too much like WoW and not enough like D&D but a three year product cycle is ridiculous. Either sales really did suck or they really are just trying to churn through the books quickly so people have to buy everything brand new.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

Having played 4e, I think the criticism that it is too much like WoW is pretty retarded. But the game was not without its faults, and certainly not my favorite edition.Click here if you're having trouble sleeping.
