I can't wait for the part with Legolas.

Once the trailer was posted, my daughter basically spent the whole night ring-nerding.

One of my friends sent it to me. I didn't really like the hobbit, but she is crazy excited. I liked the LOTR movies better than the books, who knows, maybe I'll like this movie.

I reread The Hobbit a few years ago and it was clear that it really is meant for young readers. I hope they don't make movie too dark.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Of course, if these movies succeed (and I can't see why they wouldn't), studio execs may talk PJ into spending the next 15 years of his life making a five-part Silmarillion series...

Some of those actors don't look very dwarf like. Tolkien says they were short, very stocky, with large round faces, and big noses. They need to CGI those some more or something.

There probably aren't enough midgets on planet earth to properly cast a film of a Tolkein book.
