What I find shocking is that that's 4 generations! Holy ****. That's a great-grandmother?"Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi
"I have nothing against Wilson, but he's nowhere near the same calibre of QB as Flutie. Flutie threw for 5k+ yards in the CFL." -Ben Kenobi

I don't see color. In fact, it took me awhile to even notice the black women in that photo.Originally posted by Barnabas View PostDo you find this picture racist?

It says
The most powerful women of the Cauca Valley (Colombia), in the formidable Hollywood style mansion of Sonia Zarzur, on the Beverly Hills of Cali.
“As a lifelong member of the Columbia Business School community, I adhere to the principles of truth, integrity, and respect. I will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do.”

Rural parts of Virginia and West Virginia sure are. Was shocking when I moved here. It's not "that one guy", it's everyone.Originally posted by Hauldren Collider View PostThe south isn't that racist anymore
One of the things I don't understand is that the Republicans were the ones fighting for the rights of negros. Yet a couple decades later, former slaves were all voting Democrat, and continue to do so.
And now every conservative black is instantly branded as Uncle Tom, Race Traitor, Oreo, House N****r, etc.

That was the result of a couple decades of Civil Rights progress by the Dems, and Nixon's Southern Strategy in 1968. The Southern Democrats were disenfranchised by the shift of the bulk of the Democratic party to be progressive about Civil Rights, and Nixon scooped them up. That's how a century after Lincoln emancipated blacks, the GOP lost most of the black vote. (But cannily gained the powerful white racist vote.)Originally posted by Elkad View Post

"A couple decades later?" No, that happened in the 60s during the Civil Rights movement.Originally posted by Elkad View PostRural parts of Virginia and West Virginia sure are. Was shocking when I moved here. It's not "that one guy", it's everyone.

By the way, fun fact: Virginia was the first state since Reconstruction to elect a black governor
Oh yeah, and it went for Obama in 2008. Though that's unlikely to happen again.
I'll give you West Virginia by the way, just look at how they voted in the Democratic primary. Something like 90% Hillary Clinton. Either Clinton was in good with the coal lobby or there was some race based voting going on.If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

A quick google shows it was a very close election. Can't find precinct results, but I'm betting he didn't win anywhere west of I-95. Which is the portion of Virginia I was referring to. (incidentally, from looking at his picture on wikipedia, I wouldn't consider him "black")Originally posted by Hauldren Collider View Post"A couple decades later?" It's race-based. There are entire towns here where if you are black you don't get out of the car. And back roads you don't drive up at all.Originally posted by Hauldren Collider View PostI'll give you West Virginia by the way, just look at how they voted in the Democratic primary. To be fair, "entire towns" in West Virginia would probably have fewer people than a two-square-mile circle around my house in Fairfax.Originally posted by Elkad View PostIt's race-based.
