And, of course, the problem with placing the burden of proof on the discriminated against minority is that they tend to be poorer, less educated and have fewer resources to prove their case than their abusers.

Racism exists. Homophobia exists. If it was really so terrible where he is, the man would ****ing move. He's an american living in the,21st century, and my supply of pity for him is thus quite limited, especially when he gives all appearances of being a self-righteous douchenozzle whose universe of acceptable conversations on racism involve white people groveling for his advice.

In Latin America Jews are seen as white, Armenians and Lebanese Christians too. White is just someone from the old world or of old world ancestry, who isn't part mongoloid or black, it is pretty much identical to the term caucasian.

In Buenos Aires we have around 200.000 ashkenazi jews, and I find them generally indistinguishable from italian descended argentines, although they do have a special look and often you can guess someone is a jew from his face. A few even blond and have a rather central-eastern european look.

I mostly settle my opinion of what exactly is a useful definition of "white" on genetics. Askenazi Jews are basically half way between Europeans and Near Easterners, trending more European. They are genetically closer to Greeks and Italians than say Greeks or Italians are to Scots or Norwegians.

Basically you can draw a magic line around Greeks and Italians and decide they are just barley white, but this dosen't change the underlying reality. Europeans and Near Easterners are close to start with. Caucasians (North Africa + Middle East + Western Europe + India) are a somewhat more natural category since they are a more easily identifiable cluster. If you want to break that down further the first division is between Indians and the rest.

In raw genetic difference the largest cleave between human groups is between the out of Africa bunch (which btw includes North Africans and even East Africans like Somalis who are like 40% Caucasoid genetically) and those who stayed behind. And those who stayed behind form subgroups that differ a lot genetically to the point of being as different from each other as they are to the out of Africa branch. But they share some phenotypical traits, and several of the branches like say the Khosians or the Pygmys are clearly dying out, so it almost dosen't matter if you ignore them since the Bantu are winning in the struggle for survival in Africa.

To me basically white is mostly a cultural thing, Western civ + mostly Caucasoid genetics.
