Somebody who thinks he can just claim racism wherever he wants to without proof is much more of one. Essentially, the positions I've seen taken so far by posters in this thread are far more reasonable than those implied to be held by the author of the opening screed.

He is a gay black man living in the deep south, I don't doubt things aren't always that much fun there for a gay black man. Or that his rant is more than an expression of frustration at what he sees every day.

I don't doubt there is a lot of racism and homophobia where he lives? Or that right on patronising liberal lefty white people like me are particularly **** at talking about it to him.

He said he's fed up of arguing with people who will not accept any proof he offers them. No matter what proof it is. Which is why he's fed up of the "Prove it" argument. He knows the people starting down that line don't really want proof.

No more than anyone on Apolyton really wants to listen to opposing views to whatever toss they believe.

And, of course, the problem with placing the burden of proof on the discriminated against minority is that they tend to be poorer, less educated and have fewer resources to prove their case than their abusers.

But it's a fine balance, you don't want to set up a system rife for abuse by spurious claimants.

Racism exists. Homophobia exists. If it was really so terrible where he is, the man would ****ing move. He's an american living in the,21st century, and my supply of pity for him is thus quite limited, especially when he gives all appearances of being a self-righteous douchenozzle whose universe of acceptable conversations on racism involve white people groveling for his advice.
