  • Canada, the new asshat?

The United States handled the Durban negotiations masterfully. The Canadians on the other hand made a good attempt at being international douchebag of the moment:

    Wazzup?

Kyoto is a ****ed up treaty that does nothing to control the emissions of the largest emiters, agreed to by an incompetent administration.

What else do you want to know?

I vote we boycott all countries stupid enough to still be with Kyoto. I'm just shamed Canada was ever part.

Canada is impossibly behind the commitments made in the Kyoto accord and really were impossibly behind from the time the Liberals signed it and then did absolutely nothing to implement it. IT would be stupid for Canada to continue to pay lipservice to it.

Also Canada's emission change will be a rounding error on the increases in the Chinese emissions etc etc.

Its almost funny-- the environmental lobby will demonize Canada for saying what everyone knows -- a treaty that doesn't include or materially limit the two biggest emitters in the world, is farcical

Just watched the video-- So the protest made up t-shirts and got six folks to turn their back on the speaker-- amazingly powerful protest !! and when they left they get applause from a dozen or so people (probably their parents?)

Kyoto is retarded, and always has been. Canada took longer to figure that out than we did.

It basically consisted of punishing Canada and the United States (mainly the US) while doing nothing about anyone else. Ridiculous ****ing treaty.

For the record, when Clinton signed Kyoto, the Senate rejected it unanimously.

No, they're wrong. The worst thing that can happen is that we get a head start. It would also pave the way for free trade with Europe. The truth is that they will sabotage any climate initiative, not just this one.

I hope they do sabotage any climate deal that is as unfair as the proposals thus far.

China has declared itself open to an absolute cap that wouldn't be relative to its GDP. How much do you want to bet that they'll sabotage it too?
