If you insist on cosmic/theological explanations of football, this is a much more viable theory.
Kurt Warner, Don Majkowski, Derek Anderson, Tim Tebow, and every Bears quarterback that's thrown for more than 2500 yards (except Cutler).

Is this the Sign of the Second Coming?
There's nothing wrong with the dream, my friend, the problem lies with the dreamer.

If the Broncos beat the Patriots, it might be.

If god choose a winner of a football game to show his glory... then he is one sick puppy.
Maybe he should show his glory by ending some of the suffering in this world, and not be concerned about showing his glory at some sporting event.

Tebow's pastor had this to say:

Tim Tebow’s pastor, Wayne Hanson, says he knows why the Denver Broncos are 7-1 since installing Tebow as quarterback – it’s the player’s faith.

“It’s not luck,” Hanson said according to TMZ. “Luck isn’t winning six games in a row. It’s favor. God’s favor.”
Kidicious? Is God rewarding Tebow for his faith?

Tebow doesn't have to win football games to be blessed. He's blessed regardless. God is doing this to bless others. That said, if God wants him to play football then it makes sense that he would win, although he might also lose, and God would still be blessing him.

God does most certainly end suffering everyday in this world. You should come to church and see.
