I don't need friends who are female. I just need friends, period. I've formed strong, intimate connections with a grand total of 6 people my entire life. I don't form such connections quickly or easily, and there's no guarantee I'll be making new friends any time in the near or distant future.

That's not unusual, most people only have a handful of extremely close friends. Although most people do also have a larger group of less close friends.

I'm not sure you guys really get it. I've had 6 good relationships in my life, of which 2 or 3 are still active now. I'm not close to my brothers, my parents, or any of my extended family. I don't talk to my coworkers. And I don't have much in the way of casual friends or acquaintances. I'm a seriously ****ed up little asocial git, and deciding to cut someone out of my life isn't going to ****ing help that, however necessary it may be anyway.

OTOH you've got a girlfriend. And you have plenty of casual acquaintances on-line, who you talk to a lot about stuff. I wouldn't discount us (much as you might wish to).

Yeah, I guess we're just chopped liver. Me, I would have looked at all the advice I got in this thread and thought I'm surprised so many people gave a **** enough to offer advice. (and ignored the dicks)

Having friends who are women can sometime be a little tricky on a life-long basis, if you also have an SO. Sometimes you have to prioritize the relationships in your life and be a little ruthless to protect what is important to you.

It's not well done. Not even remotely well done. Well done would be me not being such a gigantic colossal ****wad that I can't have a girlfriend and a female friend at the same time. I'm ****ing broken, and the fact that I made the least bad decision given my situation means **** all.

I understand this.

Take it easy on yourself though. Most people would not be capable of navigating the circumstances you are in.

We are not talking about beer buddies, and most monogamous thinking people see such closeness as you and the EBF have/had as more than it actually is.
