  • Experts in banking/commerce and IT?

So I got frustrated and when ever I get frustrated I apply for a job. So, yesterday I sent an application to a place that regulates some aspects of banking and banks and things related to their services. This job is information security management.

I figured what the hell, sounds like I don't know anything about it so let's apply (logic never fails). So now, I'm probably again facing some stiff competition, I believe the folks I'm competing against would have some experience in banking or its IT world. They probably have more years in them as well. I don't know anything about that world, I just know my strengths that transfer to the banking world as well but I don't know the context so I'm sort of fish on land right now.

Do you know anything about banking and IT, and information security issues in it or what the trends are? I'd like to do some research before my interview. Secure transactions most likely, things of that nature. I'm totally unaware of the infrastructure, and if I'd just get a look at that, I can quickly work my way through and get the context. I'm familiar with PCI-DSS but that's about it...

Are you in banking and IT? Any advice?

I worked in a bank IT department, but mostly with databases, not
with security. Everything employees do is logged, core systems and
systems for internet banking and such are separated, https is used
and tokens for authentication. PKI infrastructure is the basis for whatever
needs to be secure over an unsecure channel.
