Produced by Blizzard Entertainment, huh? Well, since they got that much right, what other details did they object to in the game? I just skimmed Wiki and didn't see any mention of hardcore gay sex. I would ask if perhaps the final boss was an obvious stand-in for Jesus, but Final Fantasy Tactics did that like fifteen years ago and the Christian Right didn't even notice AFAIK.
