Nobody here takes you seriously because you've demonstrated these qualities time and again.
Me: Immigration is a net good thing and improves the economy but in the short term increasing the labor supply can result in wages getting reduced due to increased competition for workers competing in fields effected.
You: No. Immigrants don't compete in the same fields as citizens.
Me: There are some fields (like farm labor) where citizens don't want to work in but there are a lot of others besides farm labor which immigrants also work in and, yes, increasing the labor supply does generally drive down wages for those people competing in such fields. At least over the short run.
You: Well... OK, new immigrants might compete with older immigrants but not with native born.
Me: Lists a bunch of fields where labor competition does occur (construction, cook, landscaper, plumber, welder, etc...)
You: ****!

Back on topic. The OP is a pretty valid argument that the tax cutters really aren't interested in deficit reduction as their primary motivation no matter what they might say in public. We can speculate as to why they're so focused on tax cuts for just one part of society (the rich) even while they insist on tax increases on other parts of society (everyone else who they claim are free loaders which they're not) but that would probably be a circle jerk as there is no way easy way to prove their motivation one way or another. Now, my $0.02 in such a circle jerk is that the tax cutters know who pays their campaign bills, they know their career in politics is over if they don't keep getting those donations, and so they're simply doing what they're paid to do (look after the special interests who pay them) instead of doing what the people elected them to do.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

this is not borne out by empirical evidence, which is the only argument which holds sway when there are a number of competing effects (ones I've also listed in the other thread).

In particular, oerdin has not meaningfully addressed a single point raised in this post. Instead, his only response has been to claim victory and misunderstand (either deliberately or through his own special brand of intense stupidity) everything I've said.
EDIT: I've taken it easy on oerdin for a few years now because I enjoyed drinking beers with him, but at this point he is the worst outstanding example of an unreconstructed idiot on this site. Therefore, from here on I will continue to **** all over him every time he posts nonsense.Last edited by KrazyHorse; November 23, 2011, 19:51.12-17-10 Mohamed Bouazizi NEVER FORGET

Can a mod please move all of the posts about the immigration thread to that thread so we don't clutter up Mojo's thread about DHINOs? I will respond to KH's attempts to deflect from the fact that he was completely wrong and won't admit it in the other thread.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.
