Summary: Satirical newspaper in France has an issue dedicated to mocking Islam, with a cartoon of Mohammed on the cover threatening to whip people if they don't read it. The newspaper's office gets firebombed. A lot of people act shocked.

Yes, this is very bad, etc. But FFS, what did they expect to happen?
They expected radical Muslims to gradually understand that they can't bully other people into following their religious standards and stop their violent attacks at apostates and blasphemers. You don't expect them to treat a single religion differently simply because it has adherents supporting enforcing their standards on other believers?

      I expect them to either:

      A. Not draw cartoons of Mohammed, or
      B. Accept that they are probably going to get attacked for what they do, instead of acting all horrified like they didn't see this coming the moment they set pen to paper.

My objection is to the silly canned outrage to something the eighth time it happened.

There shouldn't be threats of violence in the first place. Are you going to start blaming rape victims if they were out alone at night?

This is irrelevant to the thread, but I approve highly of gribbler's avatar and location

Nobody deserves to be raped, but some behaviors increase the probability of being raped. Nobody deserves to have their newspaper burned down, but some behaviors increase the probability of having your newspaper burned down.

I got the location from MikeH. Hopefully the avatar will intimidate Al into accepting my opinions, including my opinion that dogs are nice.

Damn, those Jews must be horrible at ethnic cleansing given that Palestinian populations in Israel and the occupied territories is increasing around 7% per year. You'd figure those industrious, secret communist, hyper capitalist, Hollywood controlling, Zog directing, uber nefarious, Jews would be able to better manage the mass killing of a few million A-rabs. Yet the Palestinians are increasing in population at the rate of some viruses or rodents. Those Jews must be the world's worst genociders.

How the **** did you decide the Palestinians are growing at a rate of 7% a year? It looks closer to 3.8% a year over the last 20 years.

gribbler, you are an idiot. Oerdin clearly just pulled that number out of his ass but whether it's 7% or 3.8%, the Palestinian population is growing, which was Oerdin's real point. Oerdin is always wrong and his argument is wrong but the exact rate of growth is irrelevant.

Doubling in twenty years is still pretty robust population growth.
                            John Brown did nothing wrong.

Newest Oerdin defense "Youre quiblling about details, I got the larger truth right".

This way it gives him another opportunity to be wrong. Pure genius.

Oerdin is wrong about that, too, but I'm irritated by gribbler always nitpicking irrelevant little details.
