  • Rapier Question

I had to make one also.
    Rapier or Small sword?

Hammer or screw driver? What's the job?

      No. Just no.

The Small Sword is just a crappy weapon, only maybe useful if you are a Rogue who can backstab. If I remember correctly, the Rapier will do the same damage as the SW but it has an enhanced critical range (18-20 instead of the 19-20 of the SW), but I am not entirely sure about it.

          Rapiers

          Épées

Sabres, kind of meh. While they seem to be more interesting, at the time I fenced, sabre matches were pretty much charging at the adversary every time with 95% of them being simultaneous hits, so it ultimately boiled down to one action, and whoever made a slight mistake first in that one action got the point.

That's a short sword. There aren't any small swords in D&D 3.5. The only benefit of a short sword is that it's a simple weapon, not a martial weapon like the Rapier.

[Edit:] And it's light, so it doesn't carry extra penalties when used on the off hand for dual-weapon fighting.

Indeed, you are right. I was sure that there must have been a "catch", D&D 3.5 is such a balanced system that it would be very weird to have a weapon that is better in all aspects than another one.

                Does rapier wit count?

There's a shop around the block with a sign that reads 'we'll sharpen anything with an edge'. So I went and told them I had razor-sharp wit, but they told me that they couldn't sharpen it any more
