    Well, let's just say that, at times, the Federal government seems intentionally designed to drive away the most talented people and attract drooling, rubberstamping drudges. You have basically no chance of being promoted on merit, the hiring process takes forever, the firing process takes about as long so losers stick around...is this not the case with England?

      Stereotype of British civil service: It is impossible to get sacked. If a department wants rid of you they promote and transfer you to another department.

      Also, only incompetent or lazy lawyers work for the civil service - all the rest would be in private practice or industry.
      One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.

        You have to test for fed jobs I think. Anyway I've tested too low for state jobs. Of course you can keep testing until you get the score you like.
