  • Question about job application?

On the salary part, what is a good answer? I know you would want to put what you think you are worth, but what is a good answer? I have been told that " negotiable " is a good reply.

I expect for physics jobs between 50-70k.

I have said the lower end before.

I don't think I am very good at salary negotiations.

I sure would like to pay for what you're worth and sell you for what you think you're worth.

Be a good negotiator and start with a really high demand.

$10 billion dollars. And options. And a weekend with your wife and/or daughter.

Neither am I. I generally yell, "Oh thank god I have a job again," and tune out the part where they tell me how much I'm going to make.

Leave it open. It's a doorcloser if it's too high, and your bargaining position decreases when you write one down. When they ask you about it in the interview, say that this is to be negotiated, and that you would first like to make sure that you like them and vice versa.

Find the range for the position in your area. www.salary.com is a decent start.
