At least the iPhone got improvements. How about the poor iPod Touch though? Exactly the same as last year, but with a list price drop to...... the actual selling price. Last year.

So..... I could buy a Touch with 32 gb for $299....... or a Blackberry Playbook (with 16 gb) for the same price. The Playbook has four times the screen area, a dual core processor, a better browser, better video, better speakers, better multitasking and.... GPS.

A seriously weak non-effort by Apple.

This is supposedly the first live photo of the Nexus Prime, which is to be announced (along with the next version of Android) on Oct 11th. It's confirming the screen res:

I would love it if someone else could do something like OS X... but be more hardware friendly (and more windows friendly?)

Wait, all apps are free on Android? I didn't realize that.

No not all apps are free.

There is a great reluctance to pay for apps on Android (partly because the payment system is ****), so most Apps have at least a free version (ad funded) and a pay version.

eg. Angry Birds is £0.69 on iPhone, and free with ads on Android.

Things like business apps tend to cost money.

I've only ever paid for one app on Android and I've had the phone 15 months. (and I would happily pay if I needed something and it was good but cost money)

There was one game developer saying that they earnt 10 times as much per user on iPhone due to people paying for the app and micropayments, but their overall revenue on iPhone and Android was about the same due to 10x the number of activations on Android.
Strange, I pay for apps on Android, and I think I saw in-app payments too.

I'm not saying no-one pays for Apps, but far fewer do.

And yes, it is possible but like the market, it's clunky, I think you still have to use a credit card? and that makes it less likely for impulse purchases.

I've owned an android device for two years now and I've yet to pay for an app. But I'm a cheap bastard in general.
