  • So leeks were on sale at the store...

Last time leeks were on sale I made some leek soup at Mobius's advice. It turned out quite well though it was my first attempt so I just followed a random recipe off of the internet. This time I'd like to aim a bit higher; either a really good recipe for leek soup which someone here has made before or else some other interesting recipe which uses leeks. Any suggestions?

I mean I could do a random recipe off of the internet again but I'm hoping one of our poly chefs knows something better than a random internet recipe.

It's a sad statement when Oerdin and Mobius discussing leek soup recipes seems normal.

Do you even have the slighest clue why mobius might have an affinity for leeks? Think of this as an intelligence test; nothing major but a slight indication.

I'm sorry you don't like trying anything new and that you live in a state where finding extremely fresh and in season fruits & veggies at bargain prices isn't an every day occurrence. Now either contribute something meaningful & on topic or go back to stuffing your face with fast food.

An Albertan is a lot like a Texan. Except we're intelligent, wealthy, good natured, and most importantly, we are excellent hockey players.

Leek soup is great if you know how to make it! Also, leek is healthy.

I made a broth with bunch of leek, carrots, yams, sweet potato, red potato, onion, garlic, black pepper, kombu, bay leaves, ummm.. plus few other things I can't now remember. Just wash them all but don't peel them, throw them in a big pot, bring it to boil and then low heat for 2-4 hours. Stir every now and then. It's a really good broth plus jacked with nutrition. Make a big patch of it and you can use it as tea, or you can pour it on your food, or eat it like soup.

I make a big patch of it and then freeze it. Good for 3-5 months. Just use one night and you've got super stuff in your freezer for few months to come, plus you can throw in a chicken too, to make chicken broth.
