Most summers we have lots of mosquitoes. Oddly even though this past summer was one of the wettest on record, we also have a record low number of mosquitoes.
And I do own a roach clip.
There's nothing wrong with the dream, my friend, the problem lies with the dreamer.
I discovered a family of cockroaches in my sauna. Told the cleaner about it, he said he would dust the sauna with poison. I told him that wasn't a good idea. Put the sauna on 90 degrees celcius for a few hours and swept them out. Never seen em since.
Well, I saw lots of them in univrsity during my study of Biology.
Many of them didn´t survive the experiments we did on them.
They´re extremly survivable beasts however...
one got all of her wings and legs removed, her Thorax and Abdomen cut open,
with an electrode fastened to her central nerve cord and put onto a wax block
(so we could test her centralnervous reactions on puffs of air aimed at her cerci).
She survived during the full ~12 hours that we experimented on her despite the conditions I described.
Doubt a human wouold have survived this long under these conditions
(on the other hand humans don´t have cerci that excite flight reactions upon sensing changes in air pressure, so no need to do these experiments on them )

"Capitalism ho!"
I don't mind roaches, they stay out of your way as much as possible. Mosquitoes are much less polite. If only we could cross mosquitoes and roaches we'd either fix a lot of problems, or wipe out humanity. It's worth a shot!
We had Dengue for the first time ever in Buenos Aires 2 years ago, thankfully, it only lasted one summer and we had no cases in 2010.
Some poor people burned a park full of abandoned old cars because they feared rain water would accumulate there and create a good enviroment for mosquitoes, the media made people paranoid about accumulating water. Be it your cat's water bowl or flower vases at cemeteries

"I have nothing against Wilson, but he's nowhere near the same calibre of QB as Flutie. Flutie threw for 5k+ yards in the CFL." -Ben Kenobi
we have roaches, big ones, but they only make rare apperances in my house. we have mosquitos all year round, especially in the spring and summer. we have a big dengue problem here. every year there is a campaign to remind people about it and there is a certain amount of paranoia about places where water accumulates. in the first house i lived in here my housemate caught dengue (he quite felt ill but was ok in a few days). it was quite funny because i would get eaten alive by mosquitos and he would almost never get bitten, but the mosquito carrying dengue only got him.
