Australia sounds like a nice place to visit but it's too flat and too dry for my tastes. Still, some where in southeast Australia might be ok. I need a nice Mediterranean climate with nearby mountains to provide skiing and year round fresh water fishing options plus it's nice if I can plant a small garden with some fruit trees.

Yeah, far too flat. No skiing opportunity

That's why I said southeast Australia. You must admit it is the flattest continent with the oldest soils though so low soil productivity is an issue. Also isn't the highest mountain on the whole continent under 8,000 ft? I mean that is high enough to get snow but not a great snow pack unless it's pretty far south.

Most people in Australia live in the southeast. So it's a bit of an odd (or at least undistinctive) comment.

I've heard New Zealand has much better skiing.

I've heard there's a game where you get inside a plastic ball and roll down hills.

There's a kiwi kid on my floor and everyone always has to ask him to repeat things like three or four times because of the horrible accent. There's an Indian kid who barely speaks English and he's easier to ****ing understand.

Australian only has 22 million people and currently there are ton of unemployed people in the west as well as eastern Europe. Simply by removing immigration restrictions on those two areas I'd bet they could get 5 million new immigrants in the next decade from those sources and if they eased restrictions on Asia, Latin America, and Middle East they could likely pick up an additional 5 million from those sources. That would be an almost 50% increase in population in 10 years which would really rev up their economy, revive the dying medium sized cities while improving the large cities and small towns.

All that and it would still have less population than just California.
