We have these things called elections. I'm thinking that's what Romney is talking about with the whole "voting" thing...

Except they'll just take the savings and invade Iran with it if they can. It's a lose/lose.

The Republicans are going to release a budget tomorrow that calls for serious Medicare reform. It won't go far enough, but it's far better than anything the Democrats are suggesting.

Actually it had already started but wasn't widely recognized yet.

But Yeah. I was in pre-law, so my major was poly sci. Not the best degree to have when looking for a job in leaner times. Thank god I had been a computer engineering major for a few years which helped get me into the application development end of business.

Garbage. You beat the early 80s recession(s) into the job market.

On the other hand I agree with the general point that people make too much of macroeconomic conditions and their impact on individuals. Getting a first job isn't easy for those who graduate college without quantifiable skills. It doesn't matter whether it's today or in 1979.

In the UK, '79 was the winter of discontent, and took down the government. It was so bad Thatcher came to power. Most people don't see it as a golden time, at least here.

It was also the lowest it had been for a few years before, and several years after. According to Wiki.
