I believe the origin of the term "to get 86'd" (meaning physically thrown out the front door of a bar) started during prohibition where a Speakeasy in NYC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chumley%27s) became famous for throwing out patrons who got to drunk. Everyone called it "getting 86'd".

Oh, is that what it means?
