The important thing is you came out and did the right thing.
Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.-Isaiah 41:10 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made - Psalms 139.14a

So total damage is one church, two apartments, and... Dozens of schools? Seriously? WTF don't you east coast folks build your schools better? Out here schools, hospitals, and other public buildings have the toughest building codes imaginable; the thinking is that public buildings like schools must be the safest so it's pretty rare for them to get damaged even in strong quakes yet on the east coast the construction standards seem to be so low they're the most damaged. I know EQs don't happen often out there but you'd think they'd at least build schools to the same standards as all the other buildings just so mommy's precious little sprogs don't get buried alive.
Now comes the hurricane. Looks likje it's gonna nail DC and NYC.
Oh, and the quake not only took the 2 reactors close by off line, but also took 10 others down. Resumption of service is expected in a matter of days. Could you imagine something like this happening in France where >70% of the electrical power comes from reactors?
"I say shoot'em all and let God sort it out in the end!

It didn't take them offline, they shut them down as part of their overreaction safety procedures.
If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers? ){ :|:& };:
What's the difference between taking something offline and shutting it down?

Disconnect it from the net without shutting down production capacity and shutting down production capacity ?
Edit: While I understand your urge to mock HC, this wasn't one of your brightest attempts
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
Federal officials say two nuclear reactors at the North Anna Power Station in Louisa County, Va., were automatically taken off line by safety systems around the time of the earthquake.
The Dominion-operated power plant is being run off three emergency diesel generators, which are supplying power for critical safety equipment. The NRC and Dominion are sending people to inspect the plant.

I don't even comprehend what you are trying to say here.
The plants were taken offline via emergency shutdowns triggered by automatic safety systems. This is why I was mocking HC, and this is why I am now mocking you.
Taking offline is the result of shutting down.

Being offline isn't nessecarily a result of shut down - it could be a transformer or cable that are broken - doesn't mean that the plant have to shut down.

I'm not a "MS guy", I know very well what you were referencing but I ignored it because it has **** all to do with nuclear reactors.
And BC, considering that we know that it was shut down (taken offline) via automatic safety measures, your post is beyond useless.
