  • Coffee and ADD

When I was about seven, my pediatrician told my parents to give me a mug of coffee (with milk and sugar!) every morning to help control my hyperactivity. The theory was that caffeine had the reverse effect on children, calming them down. This was roughly 1974.

I don't know if it really helped, but I sure love coffee!

    With milk and sugar.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

Considering most kids nowadays drink absolutely nothing but Coke, Pepsi, Mountain Dew, etc., I'm going to call bull****.

I thought that speed slowed an ADD kid down but sped up someone without ADD.

Couldn't other simulates do the same thing?

BS or no, that was theory back then.

My parents think it didn't do any good or harm. they saw no change. Myself, it's too long ago.

That's what I thought, too. Part of the reason it's really stupid to go on ritalin if you don't actually have ADD.
