    I agree. It's always the claim. Tuition rates are going up, there's less scholarship money, etc. so college is no longer an option either for yourself or for your kids. I always feel it is an excuse (or maybe people are just misinformed) since I think there's always money out there for school, but it's what you hear all the time.

    And loans, even student loans, can be difficult for poor people to get for fairly obvious reasons.

    There's also the problem of parents ruining their children's credit by getting cards and other forms of debt that go to collections in their minor's name and that child reaching college age with no ability to get a student loan. I know many people in this situation. I'm pretty sure it's illegal but what can they do? Throw their parents in jail?
