What is the most despicable thing you have ever done?
It's one indicator(self preservation). There are others.
Are you familiar with the McGurk effect? The brain does not accurately interpret input. We hallucinate the world via what input our senses provide us. People that experience subjective realities substantially different from what a substantive group would report as real seemingly have different biological mechanisms that either interrupt input, distort input, or neurological pathways that assemble input in such a way that provide a much different result than the so called norm.
I know it may be hard to trust because the narrator is British, but it seems real enough.
Such research has enormous implications for the criminal justice system. In the last few years, it has become increasingly more common in the course of public discussion to label eyewitness testimony as "unreliable". There is now a greater understand of why this may be the case. Eyewitnesses may, from a scientific standpoint, ultimately only be able to aid law enforcement in identifying a suspect. But relying on such testimony as proof would not seem to qualify as an effective scientific standard of identification.
Hmmm. I can see being skeptical about most all forms of evidence in criminal law.
I'm not sure we cannot rely on a witness who sees someone holding an object, then hears a loud bang, and then sees someone fall down. Of course, there could be conditions where the person viewing this would be a good witness and others where the person would be a bad witness.
We should be able to take these things into account.

When I was 6 I had some stickers that hitched a ride in my shoelaces. When I got to school I took them out during class. One of my associates sitting next to me wanted to take possession of them. I knew from past experiences his intentions could only be dishonorable. I didn't have the guts to say no, and kinda wanted to see what would happen. He took the stickers, and when the teacher wasn't looking, threw them into the hair of one of the girls sitting in front of us. She ended up having to have them cut out of her hair.
I swear someone else on this forum told this exact same thing.
it was me.

To this day I still have nightmares...
I am shocked.
I think you should go to the nearest Catholic Church to confess and do a pennance.
I once slept with a married woman while her husband was in the other room sick. I could here him coughing while we were doing it. Can you top that.
That's grimey as ****.
