  • Job offer

I have been offered a job that is quite interesting.
I want to share with my fellow poly posters as much info as I can because I want your serious opinions.
The pay and benefits are awesome!
The company that is offering me the job is subcontracted by the US government.
What I will be doing is providing medical attention to prisoners. I am with a personal conflict as they have had a reputation of abuse towards the prisoners.
Guys, my problem is I cannot hurt or allow another to be hurt or abused. I will not stand for it!
Yes, sounds crazy, but I am telling the truth about THE job.
I am leaning heavy on this job as it would give me longevity towards retirement with good benefits.
    What do you think?

I would hate to be put in a situation where I knew abuse was being administered.
Sounds like a cop out, but this is a real issue for me.

        Take the job.
If they really abuse prisoners, make sure it stops.
What's the worst that could happen? They'll fire you because you refuse to abuse people? Probably not.

Work there for a few years and keep notes. If abuse is occurring, document it. Then eventually report it and make what you can from it.

i find it hard to believe that abuse of prisoners is rampant in the u.s. at this point in time. I find it more likely that abuse is prisoner on prisoner. we just had an incident in a metroatlanta prison that got several detention officers fired and/or arrested.

this is the right position to be in, if you care about such issues.

Only on the inside, you will be well positioned to do something about it, spend some time... preferably more than a year... two or three and as Rah said - have as bulletproof documentation as possible, and you will be in a good position to actually help the cause you care about.

Why don't you read all of the post?

You missed the part about prisoners possibly being abused.

But, the others have a good point - you could become part of the solution to such human rights violations by being on the inside.

I have a friend who is a nurse who was going to do a job like this (nurse for prisoners). I don't know what became of that, though.

Why don't you think about what I've posted before attempting to correct me?
If he turns down the job, will the alleged abuse stop? Doubtful.
If he takes the job might he, at the very least, be in a position to render caring aid? Likely.
