It almost seems like the Democrats are more in line with public opinion

There it is, shortly put. And precisely what the author I referred to said. And precisely what I think is a sensible way to look at this problem.
It is quite possible that reduced spending will lead, short-term, to higher unemployment. That doesn't mean that this level of spending is affordable long term. It is the height of silliness to suppose that a short-term benefit is preferable to a long-term solution to the problem."You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. And you haven't contributed to that discussion at all.

The reality is that legally one Congress cannot bind the future Congress to cut, so these promises are actually a lie. We need real and immediate cuts."

1. This argument is not about whether government spending is good or evil. No one is arguing that governments shouldn't spend money. This is, how does one put it, a strawman.
2. If you had read the article you would know that the author does not actually cite that asserted statistic. That's a quote from the interview.
3. The interview reads as follows--
Default is a false threat. We take in over $220 billion in revenues every month and our debt service is only roughly $20 billion. The only way we will default is if the President of the United States makes the irresponsible choice not to pay our debts.
As to this--
Currently, the American government is spending 44 cents of each dollar on interest payments.
On its face, the two statements contradict one another. Perhaps the interviewee confused his numbers, or was referring to a different issue."You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. I doubt he confused his numbers especially when such lies are so common from the right wing.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.
