I make no judgements about your worth only the fact that you take up space. The value of that space taken up is in the eye of the beholder similar in fact to the value proposition of CNG."Just puttin on the foil" - Jeff Hanson

Uhh... so why are you saying "only and specifically I" take up space? I think other humans do too. Also, you were saying something about "Why in all that is holy blah blah blah" would anyone want ethanol instead of compressed gas, and I pointed out that compressed gas takes up a lot of space.

The larger issue is the need for distribution infrastructure to supply CNG. I doubt given the curren climate that any help will be afforded to "big oil" to implement another fossil fuel distribution system depsite its glaring obvious strategic and technological advantges vs. gasoline/ethanol."Just puttin on the foil" - Jeff Hanson

And yes the acknoweldged drawback is lower fuel density than gasoline, that being said the requirement to displace driver and passenger is a false one as evidenced by the growing small and mid size fleets in other nations.

Further the energy density far exceeds the heavily subsidized and promoted battery based models. As for the ethanolic approaches, the OP describes the numerous drawbacks and rationales for why EthOH is an idiotic venture. Please try again."Just puttin on the foil" - Jeff Hanson

I never indicated it would prevent a driver and passenger. You mentioned the fact that I occupy space and I was trying to figure out what the hell you were talking about and why you thought it was relevant.
"Not a relevant consideration" according to whom? You yourself said the value of the space was in the eye of the beholder
Go ahead and keep saying obnoxious things when you ask for somebody to offer a reason not to use a type of fuel, they mention a potential drawback, and you admit that it's a drawback.

Most taxis over here (and a lot of private cars as well) run on CNG. There have been very few instances of accidents in which the CNG equipment failed, and IIRC less than 10 deaths in the around 25 (maybe more?) years there have been CNG vehicles (and most of these in the early years, when the tanks were of poorer quality and didn't have security valves). Compound this with the fact that a large amount of the CNG fleet is made up of older cars.
As for autonomy, most vehicles over here are dual Gasoline/CNG, so there's always the chance to use both, and Gas stations which also have CNG pumps are becoming really common, at least in the main cities and along major highways that the only drawback really is the extra time taken (which helps reduce fatigue for long trips, so it's not that bad).
My dad used to manage some of the first CNG stations in the country (my grandfather set them up), so I've picked up a bit about this.Indifference is Bliss

Gas just burns, it doesn't explode in a massive fireball with the smallest of leaks and spark. Having actually started hobo fires in oil drums*, I know it's not actually nearly as volatile as people seem to think.
