      Any time I lend money, I Recognize I might not get it back. And I am OK with it.

      You are spending a lot more effort chasing the 300$ then it is worth.

      If she isn't a friend don't lend the 300$.

      The co-worker embezzling money = bad luck, sometimes you aren't lucky (but honestly, the company should have just reimbursed you not him because he didn't spend any money.... that was irresponsible of the company and I would think you would have better luck chasing them for the money than him).
